Just nu pågår primärvalen i USA. De är mycket intressanta, rent av spännande att följa för dem som likt undertecknad är intresserad av politik. Varje primärval kan ses som ett lopp i världscupen i skidor om man så vill. Till slut koras en vinnare och då har det skett i stor öppenhet. Med en opartisk, nåja i stort sett, spegling i pressen. Sedan kommer presidentvalet och de två ledande partiernas kombattanter kommer att mötas i öppen och ärlig kamp om vem som de kommande 4 åren skall få leda världens mäktigaste nation. Det är en ljus bild av politikens hantverk på vägen från gräsrotsnivå till maktens korridorer.
I en annan del av världen, och betydligt närmare oss skall den ryska nationen, eller egentlighen ryska federationen välja sin president. Några primärval existerar inte. Inte heller några obundna media av betydelse. Några partier eller kandidater med möjlighet att konkurrera med den utsedde ledaren finns inte och kommer inte att finnas. För skillnaden är att den öppenhet och demokratiska förankring som under Jeltsin-åren var på väg, nu helt raserats av en makthungrig elit i landet.
Olika typer av spärrar har gjort det näst intill omöjligt för en opposition att överleva, än mindre växa sig stor och stark. Den självständighet för regionerna som konstitutionen föreskrev har nedmonterats. I så måtto är Ryssland idag en spegelbild av det sovjetiska systemet i kinesisk tappning. Statskapitalismen är mottot för tiden och dess budbärare och förgrundsgestalt, Vladimir Putin utpekas av analytiker som en av världens rikaste män. Genom bulvanföretag har miljarder i dollar, tagna från oljeinkomsterna i landet lagts på konton vilka kontrolleras av Putin och hans närmaste vänner.
Presidentvalet i USA är trots sina brister en fest för demokratins vänner. Valet i Ryssland endast en demonstration av det politiska förtryckets metoder. På det sättet representerar de båda makterna svart och vitt i politiken.

Black and White in politics!
At the moment Primary elections are going on in the USA. They are interesting, even thrilling to follow to those interested in politics like myself. If you like, every primary election can be compared with a race in the world-cup of skiing. Finally a winner is going to emerge as a result of a transparent democratic process. And under the continuous scrutiny of a press and other media.
Later this year comes the presidential elections and the combatants of the two leading parties will meet in an open and struggle to win the confidence of the voters. And thereby also the possibility to lead the most powerful nation of the world for the next 4 years. It’s a bright scene of the process of democracy from the grassroots level to the corridors of power.
In another part of the world, and much closer to us the Russian nation, or in fact the Russian federation is to vote for president. But here you see no primary elections. All major media is controlled by the state and works on its orders. Candidates or parties with real possibilities to challenge the ruling group does not exist and will not exist. The transparency and the democratic framework created in the Jeltsin years, has in recent years been totally dismantled by the power-hungry elite managed by Vladimir Putin.
Different types of barriers have made it close to impossible for any opposition to survive, not to mention growing strong. The independence for the regions the constitution regulated has been dismantled. In essence Russia today is a mirror of the soviet system in its Chinese dress. State capitalism is the motto for the time being and Vladimir Putin its messenger and leader. He is also now mentioned being one of the world’s richest persons. In only 8 years he managed to reach this position based on oil-and gas money. Through different off-shore companies billions of dollars has been moved to accounts controlled by Putin and his friends.
The presidential elections in the USA are, despite their deficiencies a fiesta for friends of democracy. The elections in Russia is merely a demonstration of the methods of political oppression.
From these points of view they represent black and white in politics.
