För några dar sedan firade Israel sin 60-årsdag. För egen del tillhör jag de som med skräckblandad fascination följd det judiska folkets kamp, och antisemitismen i olika avseenden. Mitt första besök i landet Israel 1960, och ett antal senare besök har präglats av tankarna på landets, och folkens historia. För Israel är ju också Palestina i det folkets tanke och själ.
Psykologiskt skolade personer brukar ibland hävda, att den som utsätts för våld i sin ungdom tenderar till att använda samma metod när vederbörande växer upp. Det onda sambandet upprepar sig. Kanske är det så konflikten runt den lilla del av jordens yta som kallas Israel skall tolkas. Den tyska förintelsen blev till den palestinska fördrivningen. Och ännu, 60 år senare lever den konflikten kvar, lika intensivt i ännu en generation.
Mot den bakgrunden skall också artikeln på SvD Brännpunkt (14.5) ses, undertecknad av 16 judiska personligheter. Där vägrar man att fira den judiska statens 60-årsdag just mot bakgrund av det våld som staten Israel har utövat, och utövar mot de palestinska folken i Gaza och på västbanken
I den etniska rensning som skedde genom fördrivningen av palestinier 1948 blev 750.000 människor hemlösa och 400 byar utplånades. Bosättningspolitik och åtskillnadspolitik med på sin tid sydafrikansk förebild har omöjliggjort en normalisering trots mycket stora internationella insatser.
Det judiska folkets förtroendekapital har genom åren eroderats. När nu också personer med vidsyn och utblick ur den egna folkstammen tar avstånd från den repressiva politiken, är det ett hälsotecken. Kanske är det så att endast ett kraftigt minskat internationellt stöd till Israel, kan få till stånd den grund på vilken en försoningspolitik måste vila.

Few days ago Israel celebrated its 60-year birthday. I’m one of many who, with a mixture of horror and fascination followed the struggle of the Jewish people, as well as anti-Semitism in its diff. aspects. My first visit in Israel took place in 1960, and a number of visits following, has been marked by thoughts around the lands and the history of involved peoples. Israel is after all also Palestine in the mind and memory of the Palestine people.
Psychologically educated persons use to maintain the opinion that those who are suffering from violence in their childhood, tend to use same methods to others once they grow up. The evil connection is repeated. Maybe this is also the way we should understand the conflict around this tiny place on earth called Israel. With this background one article in Svd on may 14, signed by 16 Jewish personalities, should be seen. They write that they will not celebrate the 60-year birthday of the Jewish state due to the violence that the state of Israel has been using, and still uses against the Palestinians on the west Bank and in Gaza.
The ethnical cleansing taking place in 1948 meant that 750.000 Palestinians where forced to leave their homes, and 400 villages where wiped out totally. Later settlement policies and discriminating policies have made any form of normalisation impossible, despite very large international pressure.
The confidence in the Jewish people has over the years eroded. When now broadminded and well educated persons of Jewish origin repel these repressive policies, this is a good sign. Maybe can only a significantly reduced international support for Israel create the base upon which a real policy of conciliation may be built.
