Det är en känd och ofta använd strategi att i början av en mandatperiod ta de obekväma besluten, medan man i den senare delen av mandatperioden göder väljarna med ”goda” beslut, allt i syftet att bädda för en ny valvinst. I det handlandet deltar sittande regeringar, oberoende av partifärg.
När den nytillträdde alliansregeringen i början av valperioden därför koncentrerade sig på de repressiva delarna i politiken var det helt logiskt. Att med skärpta regler i A-kassa och sjukförsäkring parat med vissa skattelättnader (jobbavdrag, slopad förmögenhetsskatt) göra lusten att arbeta större, var bara en bekräftelse på den jobbpolitik man gått till val på. För en befolkning där tryggheten blivit ett självklart mantra kom den här skärpningen som en chock. Resultatet kunde avläsas i opinionsmätarnas undersökningar.
Nu är vi snart halvvägs i mandatperioden och det är dags att på allvar börja bädda för en valvinst 2010. Då måste också morötterna fram.
Under DN-debatt den 10.4 går därför alliansens ledare ut med budskap om sänkta marginalskatter för vanliga inkomsttagare parat med att man visar på den sysselsättningsökning den hittills förda politiken medfört. Ökad sysselsättning medför större samlade resurser vilka i sin tur innebär att mindre del av den enskildes inkomst måste gå till det allmänna.
Det är dags snart att börja omvärdera, eller skall vi kalla det erkänna att den politik alliansen för ändå måste vinna över en politik som bygger på bidragsberoende. Inte minst handlar det om solidariteten med de verkligt behövande och pensionärerna. För om alltfler unga människor med arbetsförmåga istället går hemma på bidrag, minskar också det ekonomiska utrymmet i samhället för dem som har verkligt behov av samhällets stöd.
Den tanken borde ge många, inte minst i pensionärskollektivet anledning nog att rösta för alliansens politik.

Whips and carrots!
Alliance-party leaders.
It's a well-known and often practised strategy to take unpleasant decisions in the beginning of a election period, while the later part is aimed at serving the voters with ”good” decisions, hopefully in this way securing the re-election in coming elections.
This way of acting is used by all governments irrespective of political colours.
When the newly elected Alliance-government in Sweden in the beginning of their mandate concentrated on the “difficult” side of the politics, this was logical. Sharpening the compensations for un-employment and sick leave, and at the same time lowering taxes was the means aimed at promoting the work line in their politics. To a population like the Swedish, known for the security of welfare-state no 1 in the world, this sharpening of the “work line-politics” came as a chock. The result has been easy too follow in the rankings done by polls every month.
Now, half-ways to the next election in 2010, the time has come to prepare for a victory in these elections. Time for the carrots, to use a Swedish common tale.
Now the message from the alliance-government is that the time has come for lowered taxes for those with low-and average incomes. This is done at the same time pointing out the increase in numbers of employed people the politics over the last 1, 5 years has resulted in. That employment rates are growing is good, this means fewer resources are needed to be paid in taxes, in order to cover public expenses.
Now comes also the time for the voters to re-evaluate, or should we call it acknowledge that politics driven by the alliance is better than a politic based on making more and more people dependant of social welfare-money for their existence. Not least is this a question of the solidarity with the really needy and the elderly in our society. If a large group of young people in their best ages, goes without work fed with public money, then the possibilities to support those with real needs of public support is less?
Understanding this should give many, not least among the elderly reason to vote for the alliance politics.
